Quick start guide

Learn the method

Chantico is an app, and a methdology. Without the methodology, you won't get the Chantico benefits.

Read the Chantico Method to learn how it works.

Register

If you haven't already, register here. Chantico is in free while it's in beta.

Add team members

Add team members from the screen.

Email is optional. If you don't include an email, that member will need help signing in. (More on that later.)

Add chores

Add chores from the screen.

Select all the tags that are relevant. You will use these to quickly find chores when you record activity.

You can also manage your tags list from this screen.

Points are the single most important decision in this app. Read about choosing the point values that create harmony.

Team settings

Update team settings from the screen.

Choose the interval that works best for you. Teams are initially set to twice a month. If you have young team members, a weekly interval might be easier to manage.

Verify your time zone. We try to detect it when you register. Time zone controls the time of day when the interval switches.

Younger team members

Younger team members might not have an email, or you might not want to give it to us. There are two options for tracking their activity.

Family Mode is designed for shared devices, such as a shared tablet in the kitchen. Family Mode allows anyone to record activity for any team member.

Switch User signs you in as another team member. Sign in as yourself, then switch the app over to the other team member.

Both Family Mode and Switch User are one-way. To return to your own profile, you'll have to sign out and sign back in. Both features are restricted to admin users.

The interval

The calendar is divided into intervals.

During an interval, everyone chooses chores to work on. Completing chores earns you points.

Bonus points can also be awarded. These might be used for one-off chores, to sweeten the reward of a neglected task, or to reward a job well done.

Chantico keeps track of the work, and displays it on a leaderboard.

When the interval is done, everyone gets a summary of what you did. You can also view your team's interval history at any time.
